Seed phrase basics
A seed phrase is a set of words that can restore access to a crypto wallet. It is one of the most sensitive pieces of information a user can have.
If someone else gets the phrase, they may be able to take the assets controlled by that wallet.
Common scams
Fake support accounts, fake airdrops, fake wallet updates, and fake recovery tools may ask for a seed phrase.
A legitimate website or support team should not need it. If a page asks for the phrase, stop and verify before doing anything.
Safer storage habits
Store seed phrases offline, away from screenshots, cloud notes, email, and messaging apps. Consider backups that are protected from loss or damage.
Practice recovery only with trusted wallet software and official sources. Do not test a phrase on random websites.
